1) The entrance exams for MBA are for selecting the cream of the students who would have applied to prestigious institutes offering courses in Management. Thus these tests are to decide whether you have the requisite Managerial skills or not.
2) A very important pre-requisite for being a competent manager is the ability to make quick and the right decisions under pressure. This is another factor that the Management entrance examinations test, whether you are able to handle the pressure during the test or not.
3) No bookish knowledge or rote learning will be of any use. It is only the clarity of concepts that will help you get through. If you know a few important formulae and know how to use them, then that will definitely aid you. But mugging up of concepts or solved problems is not going to be of use to you.
